Lung Cancer Webinar held on July 10, 2021

Binaytara Foundation held the Molecular Targeted Therapies in Lung Cancer conference that focused on the practical application of clinical trials data. This event was held virtually via Zoom on July 10, 2021, and drew in 44 participants worldwide, including 18 international participants from Egypt, India, Pakistan, Nepal, and Taiwan.

The meeting presentations were led by world-renowned leaders in lung cancer from across the United States and internationally. Dr. Kumar Prabhash (Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai) moderated talks by Dr. Cristina Merkhofer (University of Washington/Seattle Cancer Care Alliance), Dr. Rafael-Santana Davial (University of Washington/Seattle Cancer Care Alliance), Dr. Kathryn Gold (University of California, San Diego), Dr. Wade Iams (Vanderbilt University), Dr. Tejas Patil (University of Colorado), and Dr. Narjust Duma (Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Harvard University).

The conference informed participants about the epidemiology of molecular alterations in lung cancer, mutation detection methodologies, molecular-guided therapies, and emerging management approaches. [1]

“Oncology is moving at such a fast pace that it is helpful to have programs like those put together by Binaytara to help consolidate advances in cancer care,” Dr. Patil shares. “The unique focus on disseminating newest and best oncology practice patterns and the simultaneous recognition of the inequities in health care delivery, especially within South Asia.”

Dr. Prabhash shared that his favorite part of the conference was the engaging panel discussions organized around the audience’s questions. Dr. Stephen Liu, a medical oncologist and associate professor of medicine at Georgetown University shared on Twitter, “Thanks to @btfoundation for making these live Q&A panels so accessible. I loved hearing about testing practices from Drs. Kate Gold, @TejasPatilMD, @WadeIams, and @valdesan. Miss live meetings but need to keep this virtual aspect for accessibility! #LCSM”
