The Binaytara Foundation’s 4th International Cancer Congress Brings Latest Cancer Care Research To South Asia

Janakpurdham, Nepal, April 27, 2022 – The Binaytara Foundation hosted its Fourth International Cancer Congress on April 16, bringing together scientists and healthcare workers to share the latest findings in cancer care. This educational meeting had the goal of improving the care of cancer patients in South Asia by educating cancer care providers about the latest developments in the field, and their applications in the local context. This year’s event resulted in the presentation of numerous papers or studies on the topic, and two presenters received awards for their work:

• The Staff of the Year Award was presented to Mrs. Ruchika Shrestha for her hard work and dedication to improving patient care. Mrs. Shrestha has been working with the BTFCC since its inception in December 2018. She communicates well with patients and their families to understand their socio-economic aspects while also making them feel comfortable emotionally, which strengthens the bond between patients and care professionals. She manages and teaches new nursing staff, contributing to better coordination.
• The Young Scientist Award was presented to Dr. Nirajan Subedi for the abstract “Post-Operative Pancreatitis as a Predictor of Post-Operative Pancreatic Fistula in Patients Following Pancreaticoduodenectomy in a University Hospital in Nepal.” This paper was presented at the conference.

The 4th International Cancer Congress

The agenda included a breast cancer session, several general oncology sessions, an abstract session, a keynote address on communication, and the award ceremony.

“The 4th International Cancer Congress is an important way for leaders in cancer care to share the latest research and advances to improve cancer care in South Asia,” said Dr. Binay Shah, president of the Binaytara Foundation. “It’s an honor to congratulate our award winners, and thank everyone who contributed to the conference.
